I don't have sociopathic tendencies!
— Emily VanCamp

Emily Irene VanCamp (born May 12, 1986) is a Canadian actress. She is best known for her roles as Amy Abbott on the WB series Everwood (2002-2006), and more recently for her role as RebeccaHarper in the ABC series Brothers & Sisters (2007-2010). She starred as Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke in the ABC drama hit series Revenge.

Life & Career[]

The role for which VanCamp is perhaps best known is her character Amy Abbott in the WB Television Network's drama Everwood. In 2007 she was a guest star in an episode Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In 2007, VanCamp joined the cast of Touchstone Television's large ensemble series Brothers & Sisters] as a regular late in the season, a move that marks her second teaming with Executive Producer Greg Berlanti (they were previously paired on Everwood). VanCamp's character was introduced as Rebecca Harper, the daughter of the late William Walker (Wikipedia:Tom Skerritt) and his secret mistress, Holly Harper (Patricia Wetting), though it is later discovered that this is incorrect through a DNA test done in 2008. It was announced in early 2010 that she would be leaving the show, and would appear in three episodes of the fifth season to wrap up her character's storyline.

In 2009 she starred in a post-apocalyptic movie Carriers. She starred in a Hall of Fame] movie, titled Beyond the Blackboard, with her former Everwood co-star, Treat Williams, which aired on CBS, April 24, 2011.

In 2011, she was cast as the lead in ABC's drama series Revenge. It was given a series order in May.

In 2017, she was cast in a main role as Nurse Nicolette in the FOX drama The Resident.

Trivia[]

  • VanCamp appeared in the short film Rings which bridged the gap between The Ring and The Ring Two, the latter of which saw her reprising her character from the aforementioned short film. She also appeared in the 2006 film Black Irish as the character Kathleen.
  • Along with Ashley Madekwe, VanCamp is one of only two Revenge regulars who has the same first name as her character. But in Vamcamp's case Emily is an alias with her character's birth name being Amanda.

Personal Life[]

VanCamp was raised speaking French and speaks the language fluently. She has three sisters; Molly, Katie and Alison.

She is currently engaged to Josh Bowman who plays Daniel Grayson her ex-husband on Revenge

Memorable Quotes[]

  • The Graysons are, and always will be, the enemy.
  • Amanda Clarke no longer exists.
  • When everything you love has been stolen from you, sometimes all you have left is revenge.
  • [To Nolan] My father has not seen me in over 8 years. I have changed
  • I'd tell you how much time you had left but you stole my watch.
  • I came here for revenge. You offered to help me. If you can't stomach it anymore, how about you least spare me your passive-aggressive judgments?
  • Vodka tonic. Hold the tonic.
  • The better way to fight chaos, is with chaos.
  • [To Nolan] I googled friendship on the Interwebs, apparently when you have a fight with a friend you're supposed to apologize.
  • I will never forget. I will never forgive.
  • Let it play
  • Darkness scares us. We yearn for the comfort of light as it provides shape and form allowing us to recognize, to define what's before us. But what is it we're afraid of, really? Not the darkness itself, but the truth we know hides within.
  • Destiny. To believe that a life is meant for a single purpose, one must also believe in a common fate. Father to daughter, brother to sister, mother to child. Blood ties can be as unyielding as they are eternal. But it is our bonds of choice that truly light the road we travel. Love versus hatred. Loyalty against betrayal. A person's true destiny can only be revealed at the end of his journey, and the story I have to tell is far from over
